Couples Coaching
With Joelle Brant, CPLC
When you keep having the same conversation, but nothing changes.
For more than 10 years, I’ve helped couples understand why they keep getting stuck in the same patterns—and what it takes to move forward.
My work was shaped by years of working alongside Dr. Laura Dabney, a nationally recognized relationship psychiatrist in Virginia Beach. That experience taught me the importance of looking beyond the argument itself to understand the patterns, needs, and expectations underneath it.
Are you tired of having the same argument without anything really changing?
Do you care deeply about each other but struggle to communicate what you actually need?
Has intimacy or connection started to fade?
Relationships can become strained for many reasons. Some couples are navigating disconnection, trust issues, or a loss of intimacy. Others are dealing with financial changes, parenting differences, family boundaries, outside stress, or changing expectations about their relationship.
Whatever brings you in, I’m not interested in deciding who is right or wrong.
I listen to what each person is saying—and help you both hear what may be underneath it.
Together, we’ll create greater clarity around what is happening in your relationship, identify the patterns that keep you stuck, and put practical tools into place to communicate differently and reconnect with one another.
The goal isn’t a perfect relationship.
It’s a healthier, more connected one.
Couples Come To Me When
Before we work on changing the pattern, we first identify what's keeping you stuck.
Disconnected from each other
Difficulty communicating needs
Broken trust
Same old conflict
Intimacy issues
Different parenting styles
Setting family boundaries
Outside stress or finances
Couples Coaching With Me
We can’t change a pattern we don’t understand.
Our work together begins by looking at why you keep getting stuck in the same cycle—what happens beneath the conflict, how each of you responds when you feel hurt or misunderstood, and how experiences from earlier relationships may shape the way you relate today.
From there, we focus on creating something different.
You don’t have to agree on everything. You don’t even have to see things the same way. The goal is to understand what each person needs, learn how to communicate those needs more clearly, and develop healthier ways to navigate conflict, disappointment, and difficult conversations.
-
We slow down the cycle and look at what is really happening beneath the arguments and disconnection. You’ll begin to recognize the patterns that shape the way you respond to one another—and understand the why behind those reactions.
-
Understanding is the beginning, but change happens through how you relate to each other. We work on expressing needs more honestly, listening differently, and recognizing each person’s role in the cycle. The goal is greater connection, trust, and a relationship that feels more intentional.
-
Insight only goes so far if nothing changes outside the session. We put new ways of communicating and relating into practice, so they become part of how you handle real-life situations. Over time, you’ll become more confident recognizing your own patterns, making intentional choices, and creating healthier interactions together.
The Problem Isn’t Just The Argument
The same conflict keeps coming back because there’s usually something underneath it that hasn’t been understood or repaired. Coaching for relationships looks at what’s driving the pattern, so you stop repeating it and start building the relationship you want.
After Working With Me, Clients Report:
Intimacy returns
Easier communication with each other
Acting like a team
Can ask for what they need
No longer stuck
Looking forward together
Joy returns
Love has replaced tension
The goal is to help you build a relationship where you understand each other, ask for what you need, and move toward the future together.
“Sometimes couples aren’t even in the same book, much less on the same page. I help you find the same book, the same chapter, and sometimes the same page—or learn to be okay when you’re not.”
About Joelle Brant
Hi, I’m Joelle Brant, CPLC.
I’m passionate about healthy relationships. I’ve spent much of my career helping adults and couples work through communication problems, emotional disconnection, and recurring relationship dynamics.
My approach is structured, practical, and focused on clarity and connection. I believe that lasting change begins with understanding the why and learning how to create something different. Find the why. Work the how.
I’m not interested in deciding who is right or wrong. I want to understand what is happening for each person, what keeps triggering the same cycle, and why you’re both responding the way you do. Both partners have a role in changing the cycle, and I’ll help you understand what that looks like.
Clients have described me as someone who puts them at ease and helps them become clear about where they’re going and what's going to happen. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and became a Certified Professional Life Coach in 2015.
Availability: I provide in-person coaching in Virginia Beach, and virtual coaching for clients nationwide.
